Buckden Annual Parish Meeting - The annual Parish Meeting will be held in the Institute on Wednesday 7th May at 7.00 p.m. The meeting will follow a similar format to last year's meeting with a number of speakers from a variety of local groups. Please do come along and hear about what is happening in our community.
Buckden Gala - helpers needed - Planning for Buckden Gala is well underway. We will shortly be contacting people asking for volunteers to help with the stalls etc. on the day. If you are able to spare an hour or two on the afternoon of Saturday 21st June, please email helpers@buckden.org. Thank you
Mobile Library - Nick from the Mobile Library service has asked us to remind everyone that the mobile library visits Buckden once a month and can be found in the car park . Forthcoming visit dates are Wednesday 12th March, Wednesday 9th April & Wednesday 7th May from 10 - 12.
Lisa's Funeral Lisa Lacey (Aldred) who used to live at The Mad Hatter (Greystones), sadly died on Sunday. Her funeral will be on Friday 21st February at 3pm at Skipton Crematorium, followed by the wake at Venue in Skipton.
New Hubberholme Footpath – Opening The NT invites parishioners to a special event celebrating the opening of the new footpath at Hubberholme, an exciting addition to our local area that we hope will be enjoyed by all. Thursday 30th January; Meet at 10:00 AM in Buckden Car Park. The event will begin with a walk from Buckden Car Park to the new footpath, where the official opening ceremony will be conducted by Colin Speakman from the Dales Way Association. Following the ceremony, we will take a stroll along the newly opened path to enjoy its beauty and significance firsthand. Afterwards, we are warmly invited you to celebrate the opening at Buckden Village Institute with drinks and light refreshments. Board Games Cafe Following the very successful evening in October, Angie and Paul Wood are kindly hosting another Board Games Cafe in the Institute on Saturday 22 February, 7.30pm. There will be a selection of different modern board games to play in small groups, with guidance from Angie and Paul as to how to play. It is a fun event, and at a bargain price of just £3 per person including a pudding, we hope that this event will be well supported. New footpath: The National Trust has now opened the new section of the Dalesway between Buckden and Hubberholme reducing the need to walk on the road. The new section runs between the penultimate gate before Dubbs Lane to the water pumping station near Wharfeside House, following the river for most of the way. Thanks to Peter Katic and Patrick who have put in a lot of work to make this happen.

Advent Course: Haphazard by Starlight This year’s Advent course is a joint course run by the parishes that make up Upper Wharfedale, co-led by Revd Matthew Wood and Revd Tom Lusty. Christingle Making - At 10.30am on Christmas Eve there will be a Christingle making workshop in Buckden School Room. No previous experience is necessary as there will be folk present who have done it before. These Christingles will then be used in the service at Hubberholme Church at 4.00pm.
